NGP VAN Recognizes SpeakEasy in Innovation Partner Marketplace

Digital innovation has touched almost every sector of the political world. Donating is easier online, organizers can go door to door with their iPhones, and social media outreach has changed the game. But older workhorse tools – like direct mail – have been slow to evolve.
That changes this cycle.
As part of our Innovation Platform Marketplace, NGP VAN is excited to highlight its partnership with SpeakEasy Political, the first template-based direct mail platform with built-in voter targeting via the VAN.
How it works:
VAN users can now import their lists directly into SpeakEasy. The platform then allows users to upload their own photos and text into professionally designed, pre-built templates to create high quality direct mail.
Pairing voter targeting with do-it-yourself templates means candidates and campaigns can get a piece of mail out the door in a matter of hours, for a fraction of the cost. SpeakEasy works only with Democratic and progressive candidates, and only with union printers. And it can produce door hangers, walk cards and more.
Larger races can always benefit from consulting help, but for down-ballot races and campaigns and organizations with communication directors, targeted, do-it-yourself mail is a great, affordable option.
“Technology is rapidly lowering costs and democratizing the process of campaigning,” said Eric Jaye, cofounder of SpeakEasy. “Down ballot races no longer have to pay more than necessary to get their message out the door. We’re thrilled to partner with NGP VAN to give all candidates access to the same top-flight design and voter targeting that larger races use.”
One of the main goals of NGP VAN’s Innovation Platform is to provide campaigns of all sizes the opportunity to run fully-integrated, multi-channel voter contact campaigns. Down-ballot campaigns are now able to use sophisticated technology, like SpeakEasy, to contact voters using SMS, phones, direct mail, online advertising, email, and other channels, and have their data move seamlessly in and out of VAN.
